UPCOMING EVENTS.
On September 14, 2024, the Downtown Merriam Partnership will host its first fundraiser for the newly formed Friends of Historic Downtown Merriam.
The Friends of Historic Downtown Merriam is a 501 © (3) organization dedicated to supplying scholarships and training to individuals interested in the trade and trade programs.
Our Mission: An organization focused on advancing and building awareness for the value and impact of trade skills education and training along with expanding recognition for the arts, culture, and creativity across the Midwest.
Moved by our conviction of the civic and personal value of the arts and trades our purpose at the FOHDM is to ensure that the arts and trades are accessible to all people and to encourage individuals to care about the arts and trades as critical components of their own lives and the lives of their communities.
A Fundraiser will be held in the downtown Merriam business area. Several businesses are lending us their parking lots for the entire day. We will be charging Car Show attendees to park. The Boy Scouts will organize and manage the project.
All proceeds will go the above mentioned 501 © (3) and the Boy Scouts.
Attached you will find an updated street closure letter from Merriam Parks and Recreation, please read it. It speaks to the blocking of Merriam Drive from 57th Street to 58th Street. None of our local businesses should be affected by the closures. I will be walking around the parking lots and local businesses during Saturday morning. If you need me or have any issues that need to be dealt with you can call me at 913-486-6702 for assistance.
We will have Event Parking signs posted as well as Customers Only Parking signs for the local shops and parking lots that are participating in our fundraiser. See the other attached file. If you would like to partake in this fundraising project or have a parking lot/space that you would like to lend us for the day, please contact Nancy McGuire at 913-219-1330 and she will set it up. The more spaces that we can fill the more funds we can raise!
One more item: We have brand new DMP t-shirts for sale for 10.00. Supply is limited so let me know if you would like to purchase one. They have our new logo and tag line, T-Shirt: Downtown Merriam Partnership, Our Unity is our Community.
